Coping with stress can be the secret to a happy and productive life. People who feel stressed out are less productive and less confident. Stress can be a real blow to your confidence and well being.

Stress management, the ability to manage and control the amount and level of stress in your life can be an important skill. It can improve your life, can make you happier and generally feel better about yourself.

So what are the underlying causes stress?

Stress can be caused by situations in which you feel that you do not have control. In other words things are getting on top of you and you feel unable to cope.Stress can be related to work , to do with the family (partner or children), financial concerns or just having too much to do and not enough time to do it in.

What are the symptoms?

Stress can affects people in many different ways, everyone has a different way of coping with it.
When you are stressed chemicals are released by your body and as a result can build up over time and cause various mental and physical symptoms. Mental symptoms can be depression anger, anxiety, loss of appetite, tiredness, lapses in concentration or frequent weeping.
Physical symptoms might be chest pains, constipation or diarrhoea, biting nails, nervous twitches, pins and needles, breathlessness and dizziness.

In fact stress is a part of life and we need a certain amount of stress to keep us going. We all actually have the ability and resources within us to manage stress and enjoy a happy and productive life. By learning how to take control of your mind and take control of your body it is possible to deal with stress and feel more positive and more at ease.
